Acupuncture for headaches and migraine

Acupuncture in conjunction with pain medication has been shown to be effective in treating tension headaches, chronic headaches, and migraines.

We offer acupuncture for reducing the frequency and severity of headaches and migraines.

Some headaches or migraines can result from poor shoulder or neck posture or emotional disorders like stress or tension. Through observation and traditional Chinese medicine diagnostic techniques, an acupuncturist will seek to understand and treat the underlying cause of your headaches.

An acupuncture treatment plan for headaches or migraine usually commences with twice-weekly treatments, followed by weekly sessions, and then fortnightly maintenance.

The treatment plan may also involve diet and lifestyle changes.

Is acupuncture suitable for treating all types of headaches?

Some headaches require immediate medical attention. Contact your doctor or an emergency department if you have a headache resulting from a blow to the head, or a headache that continues to get worse, or an unusually severe headache.
